Friendship
“Yes, you did it Emma!”
Eva shouts to her best friend Emma with an excited voice. Eva and Emma had been best friends since the second grade and now they are in the 8th grade and still best friends. They found each other on the first day of school, when Emma was assigned as Eva’s buddy for the first day of school to show her around the school. That day they found each other, and it comes to the Monday of the first day of school of the 8th grade.
“I did it, I really did it bestie!” Emma screams with an excited voice.
“I told you you could do it”, Eva said.
Emma and Eva were playing on the bars by the school track when Emma finally did a kick over on the bars, they both got really excited that she could finally do it. They were having so much fun when Derin walked over. When Eva sees Derin she runs over to her with a pleased expression on her face.
“I’ll come in a minute Emma!” Eva shouts to Emma. Eva and Derin run away talking happily leaving Emma all by herself. But Eva and Derin didn’t come back so Emma decided to go look for them.
“EVA WHERE ARE YOU, EVA”
Emma felt so worried that Eva didn’t come back. She hears whispering from behind a large pyracantha bush.
“Eva! What are you doing whispering behind a pyracantha bush?” Emma asked wonderingly.
“Oh, just talking about school”.
“No you're not what were you whispering about?” Emma ask’s Eva.
“Just go away Emma this is private”.
Derin shouted at Emma with a furious expression on her face, but Emma ignored Derin and decided to focus on her best friend.
“So, what’s the secret Eva it's not like you can’t tell me, come on spill the tea”.
“What should I do it's Emma’s secret of her crush that I told Derin about Emma.” Eva thought to herself.
“Don’t tell her”. Derin whispered.
“Sorry I can’t tell you this is between just me and Derin and no one else”.
Eva told Emma.
Ok, fine I’ll dismiss this problem it can’t cause any trouble Emma thought. Little did Emma know something would go terribly wrong.
“Oh, ok let's go play on the bars all together if you guys are done talking behind this spikey pyracantha bush.”
Eva and Derin exchange a glance and nod,
“ sure let's go.” And soon they forgot about it.
Next week when Emma was walking through the middle school hallway to get to her next class, she got strange and disgusted glances from everyone. She was wondering why, so she asked Eva why she was getting those looks from everyone when coming to her first class of the day.
“Why do I get such weird looks from everyone?”
Emma asked in a curious voice.
“I don’t know maybe ask someone else I have no clue why the give you those looks”.
So, she decides to ask Derin, she finds Derin trying to find something in her locker for her next class. “Hi Derin, do you know why people are giving me strange looks?”
Emma asks curiously.
“Oh, haven’t you herd everyone knows that you’re in love with the nerdy boy Thomas.”
Derin says to Emma with a pleased face, oh and there’s also a rumour that you guys went out to prom together.
“Nnn……no I didn’t I don’t even like him.”
Emma said while stuttering.
So, Emma decides to go over to Eva because she only told Eva that she liked nerdy boy Thomas.
“Did you tell anyone about my crush?”
Emma asked curiously.
“Yeah, but I only told Derin but what can she do she promised that she won't tell anyone.”
Eva exclaims in a wondering voice.
“Well now everyone knows, because someone spread a rumour that I am in love with nerdy boy Thomas.” So, Emma decides to go ask Derin if she spread the rumour about her loving nerdy Thomas.
“DERIN, DERIN”
Emma shouted. She finally finds Derin at the water fountain filling up her water bottle.
“Hey Derin, I have a question did you by any chance spread a rumour about me loving nerdy boy Thomas?”
“No of course not, I would never spread a rumour about you, we are friends not enemies, right?”
Derin asks.
“No….no were friends.”
Emma considers the situation at home and finally decides that she will have to break up with Eva and find herself a new friend to play with. So, the next day she finds Eva by her locker and asks in an unpleasant but questioning tone,
“Eva, do you mind if we break up and go our separate ways because I feel like you have been rude to me lately.”
“ No I don’t mind as long as you don’t steel my friends from me.”
Eva answers in a steady voice.
“We can still be friends but not best friends,”
Emma said with a steady voice this time. Their conversation ends very awkwardly because Emma starts to cry because they are not best friends anymore, but Eva is just staring at Emma and keeping her tears from running down her cheeks. In the end Eva becomes great friends with Derin but Emma has a tougher time than Eva because she was very reserved and didn’t know a lot of kids. But in the end, she found Stella and they fit each other very well, they both liked the bars and finding out about cool tricks. Then everything went back to normal. No big fights and each of them had their own friend. They still talked but not as freely as before.
